Warm - Up's PDFs
I firmly believe that warming up and developing instrumental technique go hand in hand. I start each lesson with basic exercises to improve my students' tone and fluency.
WARM-UP 1.3
is for the very beginner. We learn the first 5 notes and once we've mastered them, we include rhythm, slurs and dynamics. |
WARM-UP 2.4
In the second level of warm-up, we introduce major chords and the chromatic scale. On the second page, I like to use dice to choose a note and use these like a board game. The aim is to get to the end of the page in a fun way. |
WARM-UP 3.4
In level three, we add a little more range to the major chords. We also introduce scales in different keys with a well knowed etude. The dice used for level 2.4 will also be used to determine the dynamics and speed at which to play these scales. to conclude with exercises on the harmonic series, which in my opinion is fundamental work. |
WARM-UP 4.3
Here we add minor chords to the major ones we already know. Same principle as for the previous level but with an exercise well known to trumpet players. We keep the dice roll to vary the dynamics and speed. We also have the return of the chromatic scale, now on two octaves, and the traditional harmonic series. |
WARM-UP 5.2
In Warm-Up 5.3 we introduce the diminished and augmented chords. On the second page we have the same rules as before with another well known exercice and the two octaves harmonic series. Enjoy |
IMPROVISATION 1.1
Improvisation is a good way of developing musicality. Some students find it difficult to hear the music in their heads. I firmly believe that improvising a simple melody or rhythmic pattern can help them improve their playing. |
