Julien Theodor - Trumpet - Pivot System Instructor
About
Julien began his musical career with the Académie de Musique de Malmedy in the class of Roland Lodomez and continued his studies at the IMEP (Institut de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namur, Belgium) in the class of Antoine Acquisto. He obtained a master's degree in teaching in 2013. After obtaining his first diploma, Julien was taught by Didier Petit and was fortunate enough to work alongside him in the orchestra at the Opéra des Flandres. Julien Theodor was always keen to improve his skills and took part in the Pacific Region International Summer Academy in Powell River (Canada) led by Arthur Arnold. He studied for a master's degree in orchestral music between 2017 and 2020 at the Orchesterzentrum in Dortmund and obtained his second Master's degree in Düsseldorf in the class of Tobias Füller. He has been a free student at the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe since March 2021 in the class of professor Reinhold Friedrich assisted by Markus Klein.
Since 2022, Julien has been training with the Canadian teacher Glenn Libman who is teaching him the “Pivot System for Brass Musicians” developed by Dr. Donald S. Reinhardt.
As a freelance musician, Julien Theodor performs with different orchestras both in Belgium and abroad, including the Opéra des Flandres, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, Musiques Nouvelles and Dortmunder Philharmoniker. Julien has also performed in the Philharmonie of Paris in a creation by Chaya Czernowin.
Julien Theodor has a passion for teaching and teaches trumpet at the Académie de Malmedy and the Académie Union Grand-Duc Adolphe in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He is often called upon to deliver masterclasses, particularly at the International Music Academy of Dinant and the Musikhochschule of Lübeck.
Julien is a Kröger Trumpets Artist.
